Happy Holiday Season Everyone! Already I am gearing up for Christmas and all the fun holiday times to come, but this year I decided to give a little extra love to my overlooked holiday: Thanksgiving.
This is not to imply that I don't love Thanksgiving, because I do. I just never seem to get in the mood to decorate for it or "get in the spirit" until I am prepping all the food the night before. This year I decided that I would start my Thanksgiving decoration collection to keep me in the mood for fall. :)
First I went through my craft room to gather my candle holders, craft paper, and Ribbon. I used the ribbon and candles along with a leaf garland I got on sale at Micheal's to decorate the Fireplace. My mom had already bought me some little decorative gourds, so I gathered some leaves from outside that I used to accentuate them as a simple dining room centerpiece. (While cute, this wasn't exactly picture worthy :) )
Seeing as I am the proud owner of a Cricut craft cutter, I made some of its first projects Thanksgiving inspired. Now our bar has a wine bottle turkey and a Thanksgiving "display" plate (although you can hand wash it, huzzah for permanent vinyl!). I got the "Be Thankful" Wall decal for $2 at Michael's as well which added some great visual interest to the wall without taking much work.
For me, this was the perfect amount to get me in the spirit of the season and give me a start on building a Thanksgiving decor collection without being so overwhelming that I would just give up before even starting. How do you decorate for Thanksgiving? Do you build decoration "collections"? Let me know in the comments!
