If there’s one thing I love, its all types of flowers! Real ones, silk ones, or in this case, wooden ones! While I brainstorm and plan out more beautiful floral projects for wooden flowers in my next summer party, I had to use some of my extras to start my outfit by creating these adorable wooden flower hair and accessory clips!

I originally wasn't sure if these would be better as ear clips, hair clips, or accessory clips; but as my ears aren’t pierced, I used ear clips for the base of my flowers and they worked perfectly! They easily secured not only to ears, but also to clothing straps and bobby pins I’d already put in my hair; so these beautiful blooms then promptly became accessory clips for all occasions!

This project is super simple, requires minimal supplies, as well as being a great way to show off your own Ombre Dyed Wooden Flowers or adorn outfits or other objects with a floral pop! I know I’ll be dyeing more soon to have a rainbow of flower clips to pick from this summer. I can’t wait to show them off at my next party on my outfit, but am also looking into ways to use them for adorning my party stationary, guest favors, and other party details for easy clip on floral accents so you’ll certainly be seeing these and more new wooden buds in our party planning future!

SUPPLIES

JEWELRY MAKING SUPPLIES:

Ear Clip Blanks: I originally got these ear clip blanks to try to make resin jewelry with, but they worked perfectly for this project! The hot glue stuck like a dream, and it was so easy to clip them into my hair and onto clothes and accessories after, it turned this post from an earrings post to a “any hair or clothing item you can attach them to” style post!

WOODEN FLOWER SUPPLIES:

1.5” Dyed Wooden Flowers: I used a combination of my Ombre Dyed Wooden Flowers in the Dear Holly and Magnolias in whites, creams, pinks, and ombre to create a myriad of coordinating colored blooms with a little dimension in the fullness and style of the flowers. These were so easy to make, I literally turned any flower I could into a clip and now have a whole garden of blooms to use for accessories!

Glue Gun & Glue Sticks: for sticking the flowers to the ear clips.

DIRECTIONS

Start by trimming the backs of your wooden flowers with scissors to create a flat surface to glue the ear clip to. Open Ear clip so that the base of the clip is perpendicular to the back. If the back of the flower is larger than the earring clip tray, press the front of the clip base into the back of the flower then remove, creating an indent of where you will glue to the flower.

2. Holding the back of the clip, fill the ear clip base with hot glue. Using the indent you made as a guide, gently press the flower into the glue, setting it in the base but not folding the clip back onto your fingers, the glue is hot!

3. Once the glue has cooled, gently tug on the flowers to confirm that they are securely glued to the clip, and then you are done!

These little beauties were so easy and straightforward, that I made several dozen in the space of less than an hour and then proceeded to spend twice that time seeing everything they would hold on to. Needless to say, our slipping adventures will lead to some future party cameos and these quick to create cuties will be making appearances wherever I can show them off for any floral style fete!
